Here Comes Cosmic Turtle

What do you get when you cross a Sugar Turtle with the Stationery Universe? Why, a Cosmic Turtle, of course.

Tom from Sugar Turtle Studio and I are so excited to announce our new collaborative line of stationery awesomeness: Cosmic Turtle! (At least, I am excited. I can’t speak for Tom. Is he excited? I hope he’s excited. Maybe he’s bemused and indulging my enthusiasm. IDK).

With a fortuitous meeting at the Ohio Pen Show a couple of years back, Tom and I began a friendship that also led to his doing some stellar design work for me. He created Lil Tori (my avatar on the ‘gram) and designed some amazing stickers. Tom is such a talented artist, and so darn funny. Check out his excellent store and swoon over the rainbow Rickshaws and other fabulous goodies.

When I began kicking around the idea of Stationery Universe, he offered encouragement – and as we began brainstorming ideas that we could collaborate on, it became clear that we were in fact inventing a joint mini brand.

We’ve named this line Cosmic Turtle. The name comes from creation stories that span cultures, all centering upon a celestial World Turtle who bears the world aloft on its back amidst the sea of the universe.

Our line will feature all the items you need for writing, from notebooks and pads to stickers and beyond. I cannot promise there won’t be items with pen puns. (Because, there will be.)

First up: Notebooks festooned with a literal universe of stationery items! These gorgeous notebooks are hand-bound and made of 64gsm paper imported from Japan. The paper is smooth and a joy to write upon– no feathering that I can find! Perfect for fountain pens and most other writing implements as well. The cover features a whimsical depiction of the universe with constellations of writing implements and swirling stars.

They’re available in two sizes:

  • The B6 size is 4.9 x 6.9 inches; spiral bound on the top, notepad-style; and includes 120 blank pages.
  • The B5 is 7.48 x 9.84 inches; spiral-bound on the side; and made up of 120 blank sheets plus a full sticker sheet! The sticker sheet is bound right into the notebook for your journaling convenience.

I hope you love these notebooks as much as we enjoyed making them! We’d love to hear in the comments below what kinds of items you’d love to see Cosmic Turtle create.
