Featured Maker: Imperfect Concepts

Founded by artisan Alexander Jay in Los Angeles, Imperfect Concepts is a leather atelier creating heirloom notebook covers where traditional craftsmanship meets a deeply personal approach to everyday objects. Working with exceptional Italian vegetable-tanned leathers, Alex crafts each piece entirely by hand, embracing material honesty, thoughtful construction, and designs that evolve through years of use.

Every cover is made to become a companion in the creative process, gathering patina, softening over time, and becoming more distinctive with every page turned. As a quiet personal touch, each model is named after one of Alex’s dogs.
