Imperfect Concepts

We are honored to be only the second retailer in the world to carry notebook covers by Imperfect Concepts, the Los Angeles leather atelier of Alexander Jay.

Each piece is individually handcrafted in Alex’s studio using premium leather imported from Florence, Italy and finished entirely by hand. The thick, substantial, vegetable tanned leather is finished on both sides for exceptional character and longevity. These covers are designed to accompany years of writing, collecting, and daily use. With time, they soften, deepen, and become uniquely yours.

Available in bifold and trifold constructions across A5 and A6 formats, each design approaches organization differently. Select models feature signature grommet systems that allow notebooks, inserts, and modular stationery tools to be corded together into a flexible writing companion. Certain pieces are further elevated with hand-painted finishes created from custom-mixed pigments, making every example truly one of one. Each cover is designed to be paired with the notebook system of your choosing.

Every notebook cover is individually stamped with the Stationery Universe mark on the inside of the back cover.

These are not covers for a season. They are companions for years of notes, ideas, and handwritten moments, becoming softer, richer, and more personal with time.
