When we first connected with Aijing of Aijing Ink Trail, it felt less like commissioning artwork and more like beginning a conversation with a friend and fellow bird nerd. Her work holds a quiet attentiveness to the natural world that mirrors what Stationery Universe celebrates: the beauty of small moments, the stories carried in nature, and the way art helps us notice both.

Stationery Universe has long looked to the stars for inspiration: constellations, night skies, and the sense of awe that comes from gazing upward. Our new collection, FeatherVerse, grows from that same instinct. It turns our attention to the living world moving through our atmosphere, to wings against the sky; and the birds that connect our everyday landscapes to something larger than ourselves. The way the cosmos reveals itself in the rhythms of the natural world around us.

Together, Aijing and I created a series of notecards featuring birds native to North America. Every element was shaped collaboratively, from the species we chose to the fountain pen inks used in the paintings and the environments surrounding each bird. The result is a collection that feels both intimate and expansive, grounded in real places yet open to personal interpretation.

For me, these birds hold memories of family walks, backyard sightings, and those small, unexpected encounters that stay with you long after they pass. It felt important that this collaboration reflect not just artistic beauty, but that sense of connection. Aijing captured that wonder and then some in her beautiful, detailed artwork.
